50 New Jobs At New Pub Hotel Complex
Even rarer than a sunny bank holiday weekend at the minute in Aberystwyth seems to be good news on the jobs market.
However after it was announced that planning permission has been approved for a new pub and hotel by the new council offices that’s exactly what we got because around 50 new positions will be created when the site opens in 2013.
This news came as a bit of a positive after recent announcements by both the university and Rachel’s Dairy who may be cutting posts.
The new pub is being built by Burton upon Trent brewers Marstons who now have a number of pubs and taverns providing a family friendly environment, good food and real ale up and down the country with a growing reputation.
Although in many respects the last thing that Aberystwyth needs is a new pub it will provide a place outside the town centre off the main drinking routes which will hopefully in turn give those who want to avoid the crowds and the noise somewhere a bit quieter to go.
A total of 26 bedrooms will be created in the new adjoining hotel although the design of the new building has already been the subject of much discussion in the council with some members questioning the economic benefit of placing a pub and hotel in what is described as a very important piece of land at the gateway to the town.
It could however be argued that the economic benefit of creating around 50 new jobs in Aberystwyth is much greater than the economic benefit gained from paying councillors so it might be worth bearing that in mind prior to kicking up too much of a fuss!
