The Aberystwyth Cancer Research charity shop is to close at the end of the month leaving another empty shell on the towns Great Darkgate street.
The business, which is not liable to pay any business rates, has been unable to turn a viable profit from the prominent position on Aber’s main street, and this has been blamed on high operating costs.
It was only last week that it was announced that two further local businesses in Llys Y Brenin square were to close with the loss of ten jobs.
However, local resident and respected BBC economic editor Robert Peston says that Aberystwyth does not need anything radical in order to turn around its current economic fortunes.
However, with a new influx of students over the next few weeks this should provide a much needed financial boost to local business in the area!
