Arriva X32 Bus Service Stopped Due To Lack Of Customers

As of tomorrow you will no longer be able to use the X32 Arriva service to travel between Aberystwyth and Bangor.

The route has been pulled by one of Europe’s largest transport operators due to a lack of customers and as such has resulted in the loss of eight jobs.

The Bay Hotel in Aberystwyth has become a bit of an eyesore on the seafront in recent years after closing in 2009.

Recently the current owners Brain’s Brewery were taken to task by the council for letting the condition of the buildings exterior fall into disrepair, and earlier this year the council announced that they would like to see the site redeveloped along with Bath Street carpark to the rear.

Flood Appeal Raises Over £80K For June Victims

The flood appeal launched in the wake of the Aberystwyth flooding which hit villages in June has raised over £80,000 in total for victims.

The council will start the hand out cheques to a total of 130 people of either £250 or £750 based upon a number of factors.

These cheques are to be handed out in a local ceremony, and the remaining monies totalling around £20,000 will be allocated to a project or donations in the near future.

Health food retailer Julian Graves was placed in administration this week leaving the future of its staff across the country hanging in the balance.

After making a donation to victims of the floods in Ceredigion last week Prince Charles will be coming to Aberystwyth to visit flood victims and meet with emergency service teams involved in the rescue and clean up.

Portland Street Closed After Armed Siege

Portland Street in Aberystwyth town centre was closed off by police yesterday as they took part in a siege.

Original reports suggested that someone was being held hostage in Church Surgery although conflicting reports suggest that officers forced their way into a residential property in what is believed to have been a domestic incident.

Police eventually arrested a man but as of yesterday evening could not say that he had been charged in relation to the incident.
