Jane Bown: Exposures Photography Exhibition

jane bown exhibition aberystwythJane Bown: Exposures looks back over a life in black and white, covering sixty years of portraits taken for The Observer newspaper.

This exhibition is by one of Britain’s best-loved photographers, and also includes never before seen portraits of famous stars.

These stars includine Lauren Bacall, Robert de Niro, Jayne Mansfield and Mick Jagger amongst many others.

Jane Bown’s first ever work for The Observer was published back in 1949, and saw the start of a long and successful career with the paper which has lasted six decades.

Bown’s work involved taking photographs almost entirely in black and white and in natural light. Jane is best know for her quick and inconspicuous work, and has an amazing ability to capture the most perfect of moments what ever the situation.

All works have been provided with thanks to The Observer, as well as The Guardian and Northumbria University.

Entry to this amazing exhibition of work is free, and takes place from the 15th of January until the 5th of March in Gallery 2 at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
