Community Association Withdraws Jubilee Party Cash Over Row
With hundreds of communities across the UK hosting jubilee parties this weekend Llanbadarn Fawr has been left feeling a bit left out.
The treasurer of the community association who had offered to provide £2,000 towards an event has now withdrawn the money, leaving others out of pocket too.
One local landlady has lost £500 after paying to have a road in the village closed for the event which is now unlikely to go ahead.
The money is believed to have been withdrawn after a row within the community over where to hold the jubilee party. On the one hand it was suggested that it was held in the grounds of St Padarn’s Church, whereas others were pushing for the use of Cwmpadarn primary school.
To make matters worse the money was withdrawn without being put before a democratic vote in front of the local committee responsible for organising the event. As such one member of the community association has resigned over the embarassing and rather unfair decision.
Unfortunately a bitter row like this has only worked to let down the community who will now have to look elsewhere for a jubilee celebration. However with the weather forecast for the weekend predicting heavy rain perhaps it was for the best?
