The new councillor for Penparcau has made history after being elected Mayor at his first ever council meeting.
Councillor Dylan Lewis was elected last month as an independent for the Penparcau ward, and this week he was voted in as Mayor at a meeting attended by all 19 councillors for the area.
The meeting was the first to be held by the Town Council since the local elections.
Councillor Lewis takes over Mayoral duties from Richard Boudier who last year became the youngest mayor of Aberystwyth at the age of 23. He announed earlier this year that he would not be seeking re-election in order to concentrate on his home life and career.
The Deputy Mayor to Richard Boudier would normally take over his duties but she failed to get elected in the Rheidol Ward during this years local elections, which therefore meant that she was inelidgible under this rule.
Mr Lewis also sits as the Joint Vice chair of the Communities First partnership in Penparcau which is a local initiative working within the community.
