Rachel’s Dairy Parent Company Could Axe Aber Jobs
Up to 45 staff at Rachel’s Dairy who employ around 120 staff in Aberystwyth could be losing their job it has been announced.
Jobs from a number of departments including marketing, sales and distribution could be affected in the move by French parent company Lactalis who purchased the firm back in 2010.
Rachel’s dairy are one of the areas largest private sector employers, and are one of Aberystwyth’s business success stories, growing tobecome a household name in the UK.
It is believed that the moves have been sparked by a new distribution contract signed with Culina Logistics who will now provide the distribution service for Lactalis’s Rachels brand in the UK.
The company’s head office in the UK is based in Redhill in Surrey which is close to Gatwick Airport, and some workers may be offered relocation from Aberystwyth to south of London.
The news rounds off other job news from this week which has seen unemployment in Wales fall by around 1000, although this may be short lived as Clinton Cards have now gone into administration and their staff in Aberystwyth and across the UK face an undertain future.
