Did you know……
The village of Llandewi Brefi, made famous by the hit show Little Britain is actually a village in Ceredigion.
Located just 20 miles from Aberystwyth near the town of Tregaron, the crime which has most blighted this quiet little Welsh town is the ongoing theft of its welcome sign.
As well as being recognised as playing home to the only gay in the village, as played by Matt Lucas, the village was also the scene of one of the largest drug raids in the history of the UK when more than 6,000,000 tabs of LSD were seized in Operation Julie, which took place on March 26th back in 1977.
However, should you be hoping to visit the village in order to see some of the places made famous by the well known BBC comedy then don’t, because the programme wasn’t filmed in the real Llandewi Brefi.
In fact one of the huge giveaways to this is the fact that Dafydd attempts to leave the village for London on the train, and the real Llandewi Brefi doesn’t even have a station!
