This Is Aber 86!

this is aber 86You’ve heard of This is England. Well here in Aber we’ve got our own version going on right now.

This Is Aber 86! is a photography exhibition now on at the Ceredigion Museum art gallery.

It documents changes in the face of the town, along with its people over the last 30 years.

Local photographer Keith Morris has been photographing Aberystwyth for the past three decades to create this amazing visual history of the town we all love.

A number local people have been captured in a number of portraits which are all on display, and as part of the exhibition many of the featured people will be asked to pose for a modern day portrait.

The exhibition began on Saturday 12th January and runs until 19th of March, with a gallery talk this Friday at 1:30pm with Keith Morris.

I was unbelievably disappointed in this exhibition which had a few images, predominantly of the changes around the Rheidol developement, but was actually a photographic portrait show.

The subjects of the portraits were interesting, but rarely demonstrated any perspective on change. Most could have been photographed last weekend.

This was far, FAR from being a visual history of ANYTHING, let alone the town we love.

    I rather enjoyed the exhibition.

I can see where you’re coming from with the lack of pictures of the town itself. But surely the people are the town, and the changes we see in them reflect the way the town has developed?
