A recent survey looking into crime rates in and around universities in the UK has revealed that Aberystwyth has the second lowest crime rate of any university in the country.
This fantastic news for students only goes to further highlight the low rate of crime across the town and Ceredigion in general, although that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t be alert to the possibility of crime in the area.
In the survey it was found that only the University of Buckingham had a lower crime rate than Aberystwyth whilst at the other end of the scale institutions across London took up the top 18 places.
Many students looking for an alternative to city life choose universities such as Aberystwyth because they are able to offer a more fulfilling way of life and feeling safe in your environment plays a huge role in this.
In Wales Trinity St David’s also came out of the survey well with the 4th lowest crime rate in the country, whilst Edge Hill University in Ormskirk came in 5th.
Outside of London the worst ranking universities were again placed within big cities including Salford, both Manchester institutions, Birmingham City and Leeds.
